I continually work towards the goal of substantially reducing the number of fatalities caused by impaired drivers in Tennessee. Impaired driving is a conscious choice and the harm caused by this illegal conduct is completely preventable. Throughout the year, I provide training, advice, legal updates, and resources to law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and other state agencies and community organizations in Tennessee.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UCLA in 1985 and a Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University, School of Law in 1988. I started my legal career as a trial attorney in Los Angeles, CA. In 1990, I opened the Law Offices of Terry E. Wood, and I started the Victor Valley Mediation Center. In 1994, I sold my law office and joined the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office in California, where I prosecuted all types of criminal cases and supervised the DUI unit, the Street Enforcement Prosecution unit, and the Community Prosecution unit. In 2007, my family moved to Tennessee, and I joined the 21st Judicial District of the District Attorneys General Conference, where I again served as a DUI prosecutor, later moving into a trial position, and then finally serving as a Deputy District Attorney. In 2017, I transferred to the District Attorneys General Conference Office to serve as a Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor.
During my legal career, I have taught numerous legal classes at Colleges in California, including a Business Law course at NASA’s JPL campus. I have served on many School Attendance Reviews Boards, a Gang and Drug Taskforce, as a member of the California Narcotic Officer’s Association, in the CA Parole and Rehabilitation.
