Aggravated Vehicular Homicide Conviction

In the 15th District Prosecutors Linda Walls and Bobby Hibbett have completed an aggravated vehicular homicide prosecution with a 22 year sentence. The case of State v Duffey was investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol C.I.R.T. team led by Allan Brenneis. The prosecuting witness was Trooper Raymond Gaskill.
After the killing crash blood was taken at the scene by an EMT-P. The defendant had a prior DUI in Wilson County and another in Kennesaw, Ga Municipal Court, which was not on his driving history, but was discovered and chased down by the D.A.'s office. Defendant had his 9 year old son in his truck when he crashed and killed.

Drug Recognition Training in Clarksville

The 7th Tennessee DRE class is being conducted March 8th to 19th in Clarksville. Nineteen officers qualified to participate.
The class has a 10 day curriculum, which includes one live Alcohol workshop and one videotaped workshop. The final exam for the course lasts an average of six to eight hours.
Prior to certification as a DRE each officer must complete 12 field certifications in the presence of a DRE instructor.

Cops In Court Coming to Crossville

The DUI Training division will conduct a Cops in Court class March 22nd and 23rd at the Palace Theatre in Crossville. The class will include:
- SEARCH INCIDENT TO ARREST POST GANT
- SEARCH WARRANTS
- SOBRIETY CHECK POINTS
- UNDERSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE OF TESTIMONY
- REPORT WRITING
- TESTIMONY & DIRECT EXAMINATION
- CROSS EXAMINATION
- DIRECT & CROSS EXAMINATION COURTROOM EXERCISE
