Latest Issue of Between the Lines Newsletter from the National Traffic Law Center

The latest issue of Between the Lines includes a discussion about technologies in development by the auto industry in cooperation with NHTSA to eliminate impaired driving. Two systems in development are touch based tissue spectrometry and distance spectrometry that measures exhaled breath. A prototype car demonstrating these technologies is anticipated by 2013.

American Optometric Association Endorses HGN

The American Optometric Association (AOA) has endorsed the use of HGN by law enforcement officers as a scientifically valid and reliable tool for use by law enforcement to detect impairment.

The New Alco Sensor 5 Portable Breath Test Device

In the members only section we have added a movie interview with TBI Special Agent Samera Zavoro. She explains the Alco Sensor 5 portable breath testing devise, which will be used to replace the larger portable devises currently in use in Davidson and Shelby County.

DUI Canadian Travel Ramifications

Persons with DUI convictions in the USA are not permitted to enter Canada, unless they complete the Proof of Rehabilitation form and the Temporary Permit Forms and pay required fees.
